AIDA64 is a powerful system information, benchmarking and diagnostic tool that can provide a host of information about the current state of your PC.
The program is able to tell you a great deal about your PCs hardware, for instance, without you having to open the case. Motherboard model, CPU type and speed, chipset details, memory type and speeds, BIOS date and version, there's plenty of useful information to explore.
Maybe you're planning on overclocking your system? A helpful Overclock page (in the Computer section of the tree) details your current CPU clock, multiplier, FSB speed, QPI clock, GPU clocks, memory timings and more. While the Sensor page will keep you up-to-date on your current system temperatures (motherboard, CPU, GPU, GPU memory and drives, if your hardware supports this), fan speeds, voltages and more.
And an in-depth Devices section works like a souped-up version of Device Manager, showing all your PCs installed hardware, connected USB devices, printer details and device resources in all their low-level details.
AIDA64 isn't just about hardware, though. It can also tell you about your current Windows installation, running processes, system drivers, services and more. Configuration details on offer include startup programs, scheduled tasks and so on. And a handy Licences page is even able to display product keys for programs, useful as an easy way to back these up.
If you're more interested in troubleshooting software problems then you'll appreciate AIDA64's Event Log viewer, which can quickly highlight application errors which you might otherwise have missed.
Maybe you're worried about your PC's security? The Security section displays key Windows security settings (DEP, UAC, your Windows update configuration and more) and a list of your installed Windows patches, as well as details on any firewall or antivirus package you might be using.
AIDA64 also provides some very capable benchmarks to measure the speed of your CPU, RAM or disks.
And while all of this functionality may appear a little overwhelming at first, a well-designed interface makes the program surprisingly easy to use. You can just browse the tree and click directly on the function you need to view its report (Motherboard < Memory for details on RAM use, say). And a handy Favorites menu holds your most commonly-used functions, so they're never more than a couple of clicks away.
